Right Now

I just celebrated a significant birthday and decided I would document what is going on in my life right now. It seemed a good time to ponder where I am and where I am going.

Right now I am really loving everything Amy Tangerine. All of the papers used in the layout are from the new Ready Set Go line from American Crafts. The camera and pencil stamps are from the stamp set of the same line. I decided that the journaling was a little too personal to be right out there, so I placed it in a little glassine envelope.

I added a little washi tape (because I have accumulated quite a collection and need to actually use some of it.) The little wood veneer birds are from Studio Calico and refer to my ungoing love of anything bird related. The camera because I love taking pictures. Maybe a new camera is in the future. I have a hard time adding embellishments to a page for the sake of decoration unless they have some meaning to me or the theme.

Right now all is happy and good. Great friends, wonderful family and the greatest husband in the world. There are trips planned and I'm feeling great, so maybe 63 right now is OK.

Ballerina Clothespin Dolls

Stella's Ballerinas

Just a quick little project to amuse little Stella. She recently took a few ballet classes so I thought she would have fun playing with these. Jo Ann Fabrics sells the clothes pins and the doll heads. They fit together nicely and I glued them with Glossy Accents. They were lots of fun to paint. I made a few little round ballet skirts made of felt so she can change out their outfits easily.  Stella likes her dolls to play together so I will probably have to make a few more.

Buttons

If you are anything like me you have a gazillion of those plain white shirt buttons that you just can't bring yourself to throw away. I was thinking about some way to alter them and decided to try nail polish. The results were very pleasing. The buttons were easily covered and the finish is shiny and even.
I used toothpicks to hold the buttons while I painted them. I pushed the toothpicks through the paper on a ribbon spool to hold them up while they dried. A piece of styrofoam would work as well.

I have a lot more buttons to paint and just wish I had more colors of nail polish.

Beach Memories

I saw the cutest little jar by Erica Cerwin on Pinterest and just had to try for myself. I love the result. I put a little paper clay in the bottom of the jar before I added the sand. The picture is attached to a skewer with a few glue dots and stuck into the clay. I added a few seashells and a Stampin' Up ribbon, a random tag I had around and "Voila." Such a nice way to display a beach photo.

Baker's Twine Storage

This has to be one of the cutest ideas for storage. I saw it on Pinterest and had to do it for myself. I went to Kitchen and Co. and bought a cheese shaker and filled it with some of my twine and fed the ends through the holes in the top. Can't wait to show up at my next crop with this cutie on my table.

Pinwheel Banner

Well, here it is. I decided to make a Spring banner with the pinwheels. I am sure they will be showing up again on cards and scrapbook pages.

Here is the banner where it will hang this Spring on the mirror over my mantel with my bunny collection.

Pinwheels

I am liking these cute little pinwheels, perfect for windy March. Now I have to decide what to do with them. I am thinking a garland. Stella says we need lots of decorations for Spring. I guess I better get started, only 18 days until March 20th, the first day of Spring.

Wallhanging for Stella

Here is a wallhanging I just completed for my great-niece, Stella. I have been spending some time lately on Pinterest and came across this beautiful wallhanging from the designers at Maya Road. Take a look at  mayaroad.typepad.com. I decided to give the idea a try. I found some wonderful ready made embellishments at Jo Anne Fabric Store. The "Family" and "Love" words came from the Heidi Grace Tweet Memories collection. The rest was hand cut and sew from scraps I had around and sewn onto a pillow case that belonged to my mother.

Welcome

Welcome to the first post on my new blog. I am hoping to share with you here what I am doing with my art. Since I like to try so many new things you will be seeing lots of different media and techniques as well as links to other bloggers from whom I have gotten inspiration.
Let's start with my newest scrapbook page, since it is all about ME. After making so many pages about trips and family I have decided lately to spend a little more time  devoted to scrapping ME. I want to tell MY story. This seems to be good place to begin my blog. My inspiration for this page came from Rahel Menig. If you like what I did here you should take a look at http://swissgirldesigns.com to get more inspiration. I love her clean white background and spattered paint. I used paper from one of my favorite collections, K & Co. Que Sera Sera. The photo...I don't want to even tell you when that was taken, suffice it to say, quite a while back. But as the title says, in my mind I am still only 25.
Hope to see you here again soon to explore my creative side.
